Dear friends,
Less than an hour ago little Mohammed died in the hospital in Israel.
Doctors there fought by every possible means to pull him back. Two days
ago they performed abdominal surgery to relieve his intestinal obstruction.
There was then some improvement in his condition, but yesterday an ultrasound
showed bleeding at several points in the brain, and today apparently hypertension
caused by his heart defect overcame his lungs.
I informed his father, Fuad, a few minutes ago. He was almost unable to
speak, and I remembered that Mohammed was his first child after a wait
of almost 30 years. He knows that many have been praying for his son,
and I told him that we will continue praying for God's mercy for both
Mohammed and the family. Phil and Elia are leaving now to bring Mohammed's
body back to the Gaza Strip for a prompt burial, according to the custom.
