Dear friends,
My family and I are in beautiful Colorado, having some family time and
helping get another daughter ready for college in the fall. Several weeks
ago I cracked a rib while wrestling with my three boys, bringing my regular
jogging to a halt. Just this last week I've gingerly been breaking myself
back in. Tonight I tried to add another mile to get back to my usual run
of four miles.
As I slogged up a hill at the three-mile mark, exhaustion set in. I needed
strengthening. I normally use just my left hand to wipe my face while
running. At this point I thought to myself, I need my right hand too if
I'm going to make it.
At that instant I thought of our work getting Arab babies into Israeli
hospitals for heart surgeries. The volunteers back in Jerusalem are doing
great work. Nine children have been admitted for emergency operations
in the last 20 days. Yesterday it was little Izdehar. We've been told
that all of these children would die if we weren't able to admit them.
But this has exhausted us financially. We need thousands of dollars for
the redemption of these lives. One hand alone is no longer enough. We
need more of the body of Christ.
I started using both my hands tonight, and believed that with God's help
I would finish the race. As I rounded the bend in the home stretch, a
great rainbow appeared in the sky, the biblical sign of God's faithfulness.
Michelle was drawn outside just then with her camera, and snapped the
picture below as I ran my hardest to the finish line.
In the race before us of loving the Arab Muslim world in Jesus' name,
we too will need the whole body involved in order to succeed. Without
more hands we cannot make it. Let's each of us first, as the Lord leads,
use the resources he has given us to love our neighbors. And then, as
God has blessed us with an anointed video that fully documents what we're
called to do, will you help us again to distribute it to those who have
not heard of this critical opportunity? We will gladly send as many copies
as you can use, in either a VHS videotape format or a video CD that plays
in any personal computer or DVD player.
With faith that God will help us together to finish the race,
Jonathan Miles
