Dear friends,

Yesterday the Shevet Achim volunteers brought four babies from Gaza to Israel for evaluation of their heart problems. The doctors at the Wolfson Medical Center, temporarily understaffed and overbooked, didn't want to take on any new surgical cases. But after seeing these little ones they determined that three of them were at risk of dying of not admitted immediately. They are:

Ali Rushi Dalul, 14 months old, from Gaza City.

Ali has Down syndrome and a heart defect which typically accompanies. He is very small and in bad condition. If not operated on immediately, pulmonary hypertension will increase to the point that doctors will no longer be able to save him.

Maha Salem Eshbair, just seven months old, from Khan Yunis. A tremendous battle is being fought for her life. She was admitted to her local hospital with bronchopneumonia, then had an attack of gastroenteritis which was resolved, then had an attack of focal convulsion followed by Todd paralysis in the left side, which also improved. Her heart defects include a double outlet right ventricle, malposition of great vessels, and a big hole between two chambers of the heart.

Shereen Saed Abu Assy, just turned one year old, from Gaza City. Shereen has the combination of defects called tetralogy of Fallot, and has been experiencing cyanotic spells, any one of which could take her life. The oxygen saturation in her blood is only 60% of the normal.

All three babies were admitted, despite the added pressure it will put on the Israeli hospital and doctors. They're counting on us for the $2500 per child partial financial support that will allow them to continue caring for their neighbors in this way. Please pray and join with us in saving these lives in Jesus' name.
