27 November 2003

Dear friends,

Bayan spent more than 21 hours on the operating table before she was stable enough to move this morning to the pediatric ICU. I stopped in several times throughout the night and found the team of doctors full of energy and focus and doing every thing they could to save her. I could only say to myself that they are heros.

She is now defined as critical but stable. The lead surgeon, Lior Sasson, says there is still hope for her. "We will not surrender."

For those of you in the US, the race to save Bayan will be the closing story on the Thanksgiving night NBC Nightly News. I've given them access to our videotape from the very beginning in Kirkuk, and am praying that the millions who see this story will be moved by God's grace.

For Jesus' sake,

Jonathan
