Friendship in Najeeba's Historic Village
Filed
by
Tucked away on the side of a mountain about an hour's drive from Mosul
(the ancient Nineveh) is the village of ElKosh, which is first
mentioned in the Bible from about 1600 BC. The exiled prophet Nahum
used to live here (Nahum 1:1). He prophesied against the evil city of
Nineveh which had probably returned to their old ways after repenting
when Jonah preached to them.
Today Mosul is facing the most serious persecution and subsequent
exodus of Christians in recent history. ElKosh is a Christian village
not far away, in the area controlled by the Peshmerga (Kurdish)
fighters. When we listen to Najeeba´s father, who is responsible
for the security in the village, we sense the always present fear that
the political situation could get out of control again and that the
terrorists active in Mosul could one day attack their village. Donna
felt the Lord strongly prompting her to pray for the family to trust
the Lord for their security.
This is the second time we have visited Najeeba's family since
Najeeba's return from her heart surgery. Najeeba is doing very well.
But of equal importance to us is the friendship that has developed
with the family. Najeeba's mom is a secondary teacher, and she has
asked us many times to bring good material along that she can use at
school to teach the Bible to the children. The village would definitely
welcome someone to come and teach English. We had a good time of
fellowship.
It was very interesting to see the site of Nahum's grave in the center
of the village. It's in an ancient synagogue, clearly evident by the
Hebrew writing on the walls and pillars.

Najeeba Leaves Israel
Filed
by
Today we picked up Najeeba and Shayan and their mothers and took
them to the Jordan border to begin their journey back home to Iraq.
Both children were very happy with lots of smiles as they said goodbye
to the volunteers at the Save A Child's Heart house.
One
of the volunteers even got emotional as he said goodbye to these
precious mothers and children. His Jewish uncle in England is one of
the strong supporters of S.A.C.H. program and I see the nephew is very
much dedicated as well...

Out of Hospital, and Smiling
Filed
by
Najeeba
has been released from the hospital and will continue to recover at the
Save A Child's Heart house in Azur, near the hospital. When we arrived
there today Najeeba was asleep, but her mother wanted her to see us, so
she quickly ran upstairs and woke her.
Najeeba was a
little
reluctant to wake up, but then got out of bed and came out to see
everyone. Her mother said Najeeba's spirits are up. We were even able
to capture her smile. Please pray that this will continue to be the
case.

Recovering Well
Filed
by
Najeeba
seems to be recovering well. She is awaiting her final echo before she
can be released from the hospital. She continues to experience some
pain when she has to move.
Her mother is worried
about her
because she is no longer happy and playful like she was prior to her
surgery. Najeeba doesn’t understand why her mother would
bring
her to this place and allow the doctors to open her heart.
Please
pray that Najeeba would regain her strength and her pain would begin to
diminish. Also pray that Najeeba would understand that her surgery will
enable her to live a healthy life.

"I Put My Trust In God"
Filed
by
Najeeba
had a successful surgery today. Her mother was very worried, but she
said she put her trust in God and asked the church in Iraq to pray for
her. Najeeba's mother fasted and prayed today.
As I
entered the
ICU, the staff said Najeeba was doing well and would be extubated
shortly. A few tears ran down Najeeba's mother's face as she was
relieved the operation was over and this would be the beginning of a
new life for her daughter. Her mother was sad because she wanted to see
her daughter's eyes and hear her laugh. But she said she knew God would
take care of her.
Please keep both Najeeba and her
mother in your prayers.

Najeeba Needs Stomach
Ultrasound
Filed
by
This has
certainly been a full week for
Najeeba and the other children who came to Israel to begin their
journey toward a full and engaging life after surgery.
Beginning
at 9am each day until late afternoon the children, their moms and the
new Kurdish translator could be found anywhere from the exam rooms at
the children's ward, to the Fish Room (lounge), or in the individual
labs throughout the hospital.
Dr. Tamir
and staff began
charting their files, physical exams took place, and x-rays were
taken. Everyone returned for echos and scheduled PPD;
however,
the last of these tests had to be postponed because of the priority of
reexamination and of complex concerns for Najeeba.
Najeeba
will need an ultrasound of her stomach.
Najeeba
was taken from the children's house on Friday afternoon directly to
Wolfson Hospital as she developed a high fever of approximately at
38.5C, according to her Kurdish translator when I spoke to her
tonight. She was admitted into the hospital and today is
resting.
We will followup with her doctors and in the meantime ask you to pray.

Yes Papa, Najeeba is in
Israel
Filed
by
Four-year-old
Najeeba from the north of
Iraq had just begun her first tests today at the Wolfson Medical Center
in Holon when the gold cross around her neck made clear that her family
comes from one of the small Christian communities in Iraq. Najeeba's
family are from the ancient Assyrian Christian community.
We promised to post a video of Najeeba taken after she finished her
examinations, so she could show Papa back home (via the Internet) that
she had really reached Israel safely! Click
the play arrow below to
