Today I went with Donna (fellow Shevet member), Kajeen, and her mother to the Wolfson hospital for her echocardiogram. She was all smiles, and blew kisses like a beauty queen to everyone who passed by. She seemed worried about the possibility of a shot in the beginning of the checkup, but soon found courage and I was very impressed with her.
Throughout the day, I found that Kajeen likes car rides, and loves elevators. I also found that I love making Kajeen smile, and it doesn’t take much. Just a funny walk or face, and this sweet girl laughs out loud. With all the smiles, the only painful part of today was Kajeen’s encounter with a spicy pepper over lunch. A Popsicle kindly provided by Donna saved the day.
God has given Kajeen the gift of a wonderful mother. Even though we cannot communicate much, I can tell that Um Kajeen is a strong woman and she handles her daughter with tenderness and humor.
While in the waiting area, her mother filmed us on her telephone and little Kajeen pulled my arm tightly around her. The echocardiogram found no signs of fluid around her heart, so she only needs to wait one week to remove some stitches, and she will be ready to go home! I am so grateful for meeting this special little girl and for her friendship. God surely has big blessings in store for her as well.
Below are a couple of videos of today's happenings. The camera was not able to record sound, but fortunately they are still enjoyable without it. The first video is Kajeen enjoying bubbles while in the waiting area. The second video is Kajeen during her echo. Although the background is mostly dark, you can see her sweet, little hand wave to the camera.
