Ricky and Dunya in the hospital.

I have twice been to Shevet Achim as a short term worker and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was amazed at the love and dedication of the long term staff towards the mums and children from Iraq and Gaza. One could see the joy and happiness it brings to both mums, children and the workers even in difficult circumstances.

I remember the first time that I went to the Gaza border to pick up 9 families, and I, a little Englishman, ended up holding the baby of a Muslim mother and praying for him. It has been a privilege to entertain the children at the hospital and in Jerusalem and to see their happy faces. It was also good to join in general duties like cleaning, cooking, washing up, etc., at the base.

I can recommend Shevet Achim and hope that I can go again in the not too distant future.
