Saying goodbye to Yazen

Amar, our Gaza coordinator, contacted us this morning to say that the ambulance would be there at the hospital to collect Yazen at eight o’clock in the morning.

Co-worker Alena and I found the ambulance team at Sheba hospital with an ICU doctor, and a nurse upstairs in Yazen’s room preparing him for transfer. The doctor took great care to see that everything was in place in his tiny little body, before Yazen was transported downstairs and into the ambulance. In true style, Yazen’s grandma, Alena and I followed on behind, carrying about 15 bags of gifts and belongings with us.

We said a farewell to Yazen’s caring grandmother, before she and the baby were driven off, returning to their family in Gaza. We hope that the days which follow, which may well be only very few, will be blessed for Yazen and his family, as they will be able to spend some time together.

Please pray for peace in the hearts of the whole family.
