When coworker Tatiana and I went to Sheba Hospital and entered Somaia’s room in the ICU, her aunt gave us a friendly welcome. She is currently there to stand in for Somaia’s mother who is in Gaza looking after her other children.
When I stroked Somaia’s hand, she tightly held onto my fingers – her aunt smiled. You can see immediately what a good team Somaia and her aunt are. Seeing them together gives hope that Somaia is persevering despite so many setbacks in the last weeks.
A nurse confirmed to us today that a decision has still not been made whether Somaia will have to leave Sheba. Please keep praying for Somaia’s recovery so she can stay for now. This is a very crucial moment because an premature discharge could be dangerous for her.
