A New Heart of Love

Praise God, on Thursday we were able to pick up Mir and his father from the hospital after he had been discharged!

When he had his last few checkups in the hospital they were not yet able really to decide whether he was ready to go or not. So it was even more pleasing to hear a few hours later that everything was fine.

When we arrived, it was a beautiful picture seeing them waiting for us outside the hospital already, having discharge papers ready and everything went so smoothly and easily, I would wish it was like this for every family.

Also very interesting, on the way back Mir’s father shared a bit of his life and also explained some historical background on the Kurdish parts of Iraq, Iran and Turkey, and all the political trouble around these areas, that lead to great suffering of the main population. We really came to the conclusion that all we can do is just cry out to God to change people’s hearts, for this is the only hope we have: that through Jesus hate can be turned into love.

As God promises to the people of Israel:

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

This can really be our prayer for so many leaders in this world and those who are in charge of making decisions, but also for the main population who in some parts of this world are from childhood on taught to hate anyone who would be different. God is our only hope in this.
