“She’s so beautiful, isn’t she?” Balsam’s doctor said with a smile when coworker Amelie and I stopped by to visit with Balsam and her mother this afternoon. We found Balsam relaxing in quite the arrangement of blankets and toys, and she greeted us with her adorable smile.
The fluid in her chest is slowly decreasing and for now, the doctors do not think more intervention is necessary. They will keep draining the fluid with a chest tube, and meanwhile, they will start feeding her by mouth again. Balsam’s mother is in very good spirits now that her sweet girl is doing so much better. As always, she sent us away with our hands full of snacks and candy.
