Today Elisa and I visited Layan and her mother. Layan continues to do well, and every time I see her she seems more alert than before. She is getting stronger and is noticeably moving her arms around more.
We received some wonderful news today—Layan was able to try bottle feeding! Her mother shared that she successfully drank a little, though not very much yet. Praise God! We were told that before Layan can be discharged, she needs to consistently bottle feed and reach a weight of two kilograms. She is getting so close to both milestones.
We also had a lovely visit with her mother. She is quiet, gentle, and incredibly sweet. We learned that she is just 22 years old and has two young children. Although we relied on Google Translate to communicate, we enjoyed a meaningful conversation filled with smiles. At the end of our visit, she embraced us, which was very sweet.
Our brave little Layan is so close to the finish line. Please pray that she continues to grow stronger, reaches her remaining milestones, and can go home soon without any setbacks along the way.
