Discharged to Kurdistan

Samaa’s mum repeated “Inshallah bashbi,” as we walked down a Sheba hospital hallway to check-in for her echo-cardiogram. This expression is Kurdish for ‘God willing, it will be good.’

Samaa has been weaned from the medicine that helped decrease her pericardial effusion, and now the echo would show the condition of her heart after three days without the medication.

Her mum went into the echo room cautiously hopeful that it would show good results, and thus they would be cleared to return to Kurdistan. I am very happy to report that by the end, she could throw caution to the wind because Samaa was discharged home! She is not on any medicines but will need regular follow-ups in Kurdistan.

Thank you God for this strong and beautiful girl!
