Dr. Mohaned

This morning, coworker Luke and I picked up our good friends Mohaned and his mother at the Gaza border crossing and brought them to Sheba Medical Center for Mohaned’s echo appointment.

Mohaned is a happy little guy (as long as he’s not buckled into a car seat or having an ECG) so we had a good time in the waiting room. He was pretty fascinated by my volunteer badge, and insisted on fastening it to his own shirt. He then spent the rest of the waiting time strutting around the waiting room, patting his badge and informing all of us that he’s a big doctor.

Mohaned’s echo looks alright, and he’s feeling well. He’s nearly ready for the Fontan surgery, the last of the three operations needed to treat his single-ventricle heart, and his cardiologist wants to perform a diagnostic catheterization soon to collect more information before surgery.

At the end of the day, we drove back to the Gaza border with Mohaned and his mom. We’re looking forward to seeing them again soon.
