First Surgery

Baby Yazan had his first surgery this morning at Sheba hospital. His parents waited together outside the ICU along with me, Lena, and several of the other ICU parents who stopped by from time to time. After four hours in the OR, the surgeon came out and shared that the operation went well. They were able to place a stent in his pulmonary artery to allow better blood flow to the lungs. In the future, he will need another surgery to fully repair his complicated heart, but this will allow his heart and lungs to function until he is big and strong enough for the next operation.
