From Despair to Rejoicing

After a long and uncertain journey, Maen from Syria is finally with us in Israel!I never thought I would be able to write this as Maen’s medical situation was so dire and the Ministry of Interior seemed completely apathetic to Jonathan’s repeated and increasingly creative requests – even the media seemed to show little interest in Maen’s welfare. But as usual, despite our doubts and overwhelming circumstances, God’s plan prevailed. Without warning or accompanying explanation, the Ministry of Interior reversed their decision and granted permission for Maen to receive his life saving surgery. Our community was overjoyed at this incredible news.
When we arrived at the Jordanian border, the joy in Maen’s fathers face was palpable. After arriving back at the Shevet apartments, I could see he was touched by the warm and enthusiastic welcome he received by our community and families. They fit in straight away with the help of the other Syrian refugee father and son. We look forward to Maen’s complete healing and continue to stand in awe of Our Father’s overwhelming love.
