Good Job, Daddy!

It was a very busy day at the hospital. I spent most of the time with Mir and his dad. The little one got admitted today. Mir was very moody especially in the morning, he cried a lot for no reason. That’s why it wasn’t easy to do the ECG but Mir’s dad and I did our best to distract him. And Mir’s dad did such a good job! During the waiting periods it was beautiful to see how Mir was doing his first steps on his own. He is such a lovely boy. And after he took a nap he was in a better mood. Then we finally had the important conversation with Dr. Sharon.

She started saying: “You won’t like what I’m about to say.” Thereupon she explained very slowly that Mir is going to need two surgeries: the first one (which is going to be tomorrow) is the “Pulmonary Artery Banding”. It’s quite straightforward. After around a month they will do a diagnostic catheterization to check if everything went well. And if so Mir will have a second operation. That means: not going home for a long time. Mir’s dad was so brave as he remained completely calm but you could see in his eyes that he was disappointed and sad. I guess it wasn’t what he expected to hear.

However I have to mention that Dr. Sharon was just great. She drew Mir’s heart on a paper to make sure the dad could understand the most important things. Finally after another long waiting period, Mir got admitted. Please keep him and especially his dad in your prayers! Both of them need strength to sit out what lies ahead.
