Nine-month-old Ayham finally made it back to Hadassah today for follow-up. He’s happy, smiling, responsive, and gaining weight–but his left arm and leg are still paralyzed from the brain damage he suffered in his first days of life.
Echocardiogram revealed that his heart is functioning well and his oxygen levels are about 80% of normal. The cardiologist said that when he reached ten kg in weight within a few months, he can be a candidate for atrial switch surgery which should bring his oxygen levels even higher, which would also help with his neurological development. We thank God for his good hand on Ayham’s life.
