Little miss Naya from Qalqilya came to Sheba Medical Center today with her father to run some post-surgery tests. She received an open-heart surgery at the beginning of June from which she made a strong recovery. In fact, her father kindly delivered both the hosptial, and our community a thoughtful thank you gift for the care Naya received.
Her stength even after such a surgery was evident as she was practically bouncing off the walls during all of her testing which lasted a few hours. She ran all around the children’s cardiology unit playing hide and seek, looking out the windows, and scribbling on my journal which is now decorated with her little drawings.
But, not everything made Naya very happy. One of the tests included taking her blood twice which made her quite upset. The nurse who drew her blood was patient and skilled even despite the kicking and screaming from Naya. Yet, in the blink of an eye the blood draw was over and she was content in the arms of her loving father having quickly forgotten what had just happened. While we waited for their taxi to come, Naya, her father, and I went to a fish pond at Sheba where she and her father happily caught minnows in plastic water bottles.
Naya is still awaiting results from the testing. But, for right now, it seems she is in good condition. For this, we praise the Lord! Please join us in continued prayers over her energetic life.
