Just before I was to leave the Sheba Medical Center today, I got a surprising text from our coworker Zechariah that Newborn Ali was in the hospital, and we didn’t know anything about it! Why, how long, where? It was all a mystery, a mystery I had to get to the bottom of.
After putting on my spiritual detective cap and investigating, I found him on one of the general treatment floors, in a good condition but asleep alongside his mother, meaning I couldn’t ask them any questions. Luckily the doctors were there to answer my questions, and indeed they did!
It turns out due to a miscommunication, Ali had been there since he was unsuccessfully admitted for a catheterization last week! He was discovered to have the virus RSV, and was hospitalized that very day. Now he is doing well with the worst of the sickness behind him and is recovering slowly.
We will wait to see whether Ali will remain in hospital till his catheterization, or if he will return home in the coming days once his oxygen support is taken off.
