As the sun set over Jerusalem this evening, an ambulance rushed 10-day-old Ahmed from the Gaza Strip to Hadassah Medical Center. On the way his breathing tube became clogged and he had to be resuscitated, and doctors rushed to stabilize and assess an unresponsive Ahmed once he was safely in the ICU.
It also seemed difficult to get a clear picture of exactly what kind of heart defect Ahmed was born with, and cardiologists spent quite a bit of time studying and restudying the images:
We told the doctors how grateful we are that they are here to serve their neighbors; Dr. Gor kindly responded that he felt it is a work of holiness for us to help these children reach them.
Doctors hope to make decisions tomorrow about further treatment for Ahmed, and are hopeful that he will wake up and become more responsive.
