Beautiful and precious Layan is thriving under the watchful eyes of the loving staff at Sheba Medical Center. Coworkers Carsten, Senne, and I had been told it wouldn’t work to see Layan today. But, just as we were preparing to leave Sheba, we received a text message from her mother who invited us to come to her room. As soon as we entered, we could see this darling little girl sleeping peacefully and looking very healthy.
Day by day, her mother seems more relieved through the growing strength of her daughter whom she clearly loves very dearly. Though Layan’s mother is quiet, this love is evident in her consistent thoughtfulness for her daughter. I am in awe of the love of a mother which is so powerful and faithful. In reality, this love is only spurred on by the love of God, and His faithfulness, regardless of if one realizes the source of such power.
Yet, as relief of recovery from one surgery rises, worry for future surgeries remains in the back of Layan’s mother’s mind. While Layan should be discharged soon after she gains some more weight, there will be more regular checkups in preparation for an upcoming second surgery. We praise God for the way He has worked in Layan’s tiny body! We also ask that you join our team in prayer for her mother to have peace, and continued healing for Layan so she can be discharged soon.
