We went to Sheba Medical Center’s childrens’ ward to see little Sila. She has graduated from the ICU and is now waiting to be discharged but first to remember how to drink!
Like may babies who have been confined to a hospital bed and machinery for breathing, the reflexive taking of milk from a bottle is forgotten or lost. Sila has forgotten her reflex and needs to learn again how to drink her milk before she goes home.
Some physical therapy is provided at the hospital so we hope this will make the difference for her.
Meanwhile, she is very adorable and inquisitive. She looked long at Jonathan, at me, and at the animal mobile over her head. She studied that quite intently.
