After a morning of fasting in preparation for a catheterisation, the doctor apologised as she shared the news that Joud wouldn’t be able to have the procedure today, due to there being a shortage of free beds in the ICU.
Joud’s mother received the news calmly and without even a hint of anger or frustration. So often I see this beautiful attitude of humility from these mothers from Gaza, and hope and pray for this heart for myself! Joud’s mum was focused purely on giving her daughter something to eat. She herself had not eaten the whole morning either; “How can I eat when Joud is fasting?,” she said.
Thankfully, Joud is in a reasonable condition of good health, and therefore could return to Gaza today to wait for the appointment to be rescheduled.
