Samaa is a child with one of the quickest recoveries I have seen in the two years I’ve been serving at Shevet. She was extubated the same day as her surgery, and today she was discharged from Sheba hospital.
When her mum changed her from hospital pajamas into a yellow summer dress, you would be none the wiser that this sweet yet sassy toddler had open-heart surgery just a few days prior. Samaa’s mother did not take her daughter’s recovery for granted.
A beautiful thing about Samaa’s mother is that she is simultaneously caring and compassionate towards our Kurdish families with children in difficult circumstances, and full of joy and thankfulness for Samaa.
