It was such a joy to see Mahmoud looking so well, his attentive brown eyes taking in the world around him. When I think back to his condition a few weeks ago, I’m so thankful for how far God has brought him – he almost looks like a completely different child. I know God has heard all our prayers for this special little boy.
As always, Mahmoud’s beautiful Grandmother was really pleased to see us, welcoming us into the little room and proudly telling us how well her grandson was doing. It’s so fitting that her name in Arabic actually means beautiful. Her beautiful hospitality and kindness are often the highlight of a hospital visit.
The nurse explained to my co-worker Lisa, “Mahmoud is recovering slowly, slowly from all the bad things he had”. It’s been a slow process and we know it’s going to be a long one, but the improvement is already visible. God willing, tomorrow they’ll be able to remove the oxygen support. Please pray that, in this one-step-at-a-time journey, Mahmoud’s grandmother and his family back home would continue to have strength and endurance. Please pray that God would continue to fill them with this peace and patience that is so visible in Mahmoud’s Grandmother.
