Montaser was yet again sleeping peacefully with his parents by his side when I found him in the pediatric ICU of Sheba Medical Center. Though it was lovely to see them, it was difficult to see that he still has not been discharged. Just last week he received a catheterization. Most children are usually discharged a day or two after the procedure, but Montaser has been hospitalized for six days and will remain so. His oxygen levels are very low and doctors are struggling to undertake the cause.
This young boy is supposed to receive an open-heart surgery on Thursday, but due to the issues he is facing, the doctors are unsure if the operation will take place then. For now they will keep him under observation and then decide if he needs the surgery or another catheterization.
His sweet parents are so loving to him as they attend to every need. Montaser’s father had just returned from Bethlehem when I arrived at his room, and he brought Montaser his favorite snacks. Once he woke up from his nap, Montaser happily munched away at them as his parents doted on him. Their deep love and this worry for their son is evident.
Please join us in continued prayer that the Lord would bring healing to Montaser and give the doctors clarity and wisdom as to how to best proceed with him.
