We awoke this morning to find a text from our partners at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel: Will you fund this patient?
That’s eight-day-old Layan in the Caritas Catholic hospital in Bethlehem; born three weeks premature, with multiple heart defects, and weighing only 1825 grams (four pounds). At that size and complexity no hospital in the West Bank can touch her.
How good that our Israeli friends are the ones sounding the alarm to wake us up on her behalf. And how good that our Father continues to enable us, together with our partners at Samaritan’s Purse, to provide the minimal funding that the Israeli government hospital needs for what may be a lengthy hospitalization.
