Today newborn Ali had his emergency Norwood surgery at Sheba Medical Center. This complicated procedure lasted several hours, and throughout it his parents (and grandmother) waited anxiously and largely silently, stressed and worried for their firstborn son. We sat with them for much of it, waiting with them to hear news from the operation.
And praise God, the operation was successfully completed, and all that the doctors aimed to do they accomplished. However, they decided to leave his chest open for some days in order to make sure they could access any potential complications, and to relieve the excess pressure on the body from this new functioning heart.
We rejoiced at Ali’s successful surgery. Now we wait for his healing.
