Today I admired Samir’s mum as she patiently calmed an agitated Samir down. I have no idea what she told him but her voice remained caring, calm and loving – the way only a mother’s heart can reach out to her child. And it reminded me of the psalmist talking about God: Psalm 91,4: He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge.
Samir was very brave when they did the echo. When I saw his huge scar it was clear to me that this boy is afraid of doctors and nurses. The echo was good news – no fluid around his heart. There should only be one more check-up for the pacemaker and another echo before Samir can go back to Kurdistan at the end of the month.
