Maryam’s mother, Sara, contacted me quite early on in the day, sure that she would be discharged. We talked at the hospital as Maryam happily ran around playing. Sara expressed how worried she is as she has been told that Maryam would need more surgeries and catheterisations as she grows older. She cried as she spoke about how difficult she found this. But there is a comfort that she can know deeply inside her heart, and that is that she is not alone in these difficult times.
The doctors will discuss their findings from the catheterisation, CT scan and other assessments, and create a surgery plan for Maryam. In the meantime all the other families welcomed Maryam and her mum back home to the Shevet house in Jaffa.
