Saif celebrated a milestone today. After several previous unsuccessful attempts, this afternoon he was extubated. They had him on medicine to help reduce swelling in his airway, which helped with the process.
For most of his life, he’s been intubated so this is the first time this sweet baby boy is breathing on his own! Praise God for this. We’re taking a big sigh of relief because – as of now – he will not need a tracheostomy.
For this reason, please keep Saif in your prayers. We pray that he keeps improving and growing in strength and health. His mom was so happy after waiting for so long in uncertainty and worry that this moment might never come. She was beaming.
