I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well – Psalm 139:14
While visiting Layan today with coworker Hannah, the Lord laid this psalm on my heart. Layan is incredibly small, weighing only 1.9 kg. Yet the hand of God is evident in this tiny life as every detail is perfect. From the top of her head covered with thick dark hair, to the tips of her tiny little toes— Layan is fearfully and wonderfully made.
The wonders of God are still at work in her body as He sustains her after her recent heart surgery. Soon, Lord willing, she will be able to return to her home once she reaches a healthy weight of 2 kg. Under the loving hands of the doctors and nurses at Sheba Medical Center, we are hopeful she will reach this weight soon.
One such caretaker whom we are very grateful for was a sweet occupational therapist named Yuval. While we were visiting, Yuval came in to help Layan stretch. She gently moved Layan’s arms and legs, then carefully lifted her to do further therapy exercises.
Yuval’s love for this Palestinian child was evident, and it was truly beautiful to see a tangible outplaying of the purpose of Shevet Achim. The Shevet community is continually grateful for those who lovingly care for children such as Layan.
Please join us in continued prayer for Layan’s healing, and for blessings upon the incredible staff at Sheba Medical Center.
