New and abundant life is given by the Lord. This was a lesson that etched itself on my heart during my time in Israel. I watched little children arrive in Jerusalem with blue faces and fingers from a lack of oxygen and leave pink and joyful. Their personalities and their bodies had been redefined by health and life instead of discouragement and heart disease. I, too, arrived in Jerusalem with an unhealthy heart: one lacking in love, patience, and courage. However, just as the Lord carefully repaired the hearts of the children, He began to repair my heart. He cut into my imperfection and began repairing the weakness by His strength. He sewed together that which was torn and formed a new heart capable of loving with great strength because of the fresh healing it received from Him. Praise God that He gives us new life as our old dies away!
“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
