Already miss you!

If Yazan is well, mom is well
Today I was able to hold Yazan, while his mother could do her own thing for a moment. She has a hard time staying long in the hospital, but the doctor came to tell that Yazan is doing really well. This gives his mother the opportunity to be more relaxed now. If Yazan is well, his mother is well.
The neurologist will talk to the doctor soon and discuss if they need to do a brain MRI. Also Yazan seems to have a problem with his eyes, so he will have an eye test this coming Sunday. It is good to hear that mother and child are doing so well now. And hopefully the test results will be good for them both to go home soon.
Nearly going home
Today Yazan’s mother hoped that they will finally be discharged from Sheba Medical Center after they have spent such a long time in the hospital. But then today they saw in his brain CT that there is a problem and they want him to see a neurologist tomorrow before he can go home. They want him to also get a brain MRI and hope that tomorrow Yazan can go home after seeing the neurologist and having an appointment for the MRI.
Please pray that everything will be okay tomorrow and Yazan will be allowed to go home. And please pray for his mother who was very disappointed and worried!
No fever anymore!

Little Fever
Our little Yazan recovered so well after his big surgery at Sheba Hospital, and today there was almost the possibility of his discharge. Though when I visited him, his nurse told me that he started a fever this morning and is now being treated with antibiotics. The staff sent some blood samples to the lab to get blood cultures and find out what is causing his fever and how to help him. If it’s just a minor infection and the antibiotics help, he can hopefully be discharged by the end of the week. Join us in prayer for Yazan so he can go home soon God willing.
Already Extubated!
When I visited Yazan today at Sheba Hospital, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I saw him already extubated and awake and not getting any IV‘s so shortly after his PA Band surgery last week. He was smiling and looking around the room happily.
Yazan’s mother was so happy that her son is doing so good but also a little bit worried as he is still having some chest tubes in his belly. Coworker Bria could calm her and explained that it’s perfectly normal for a baby one week post-surgery to have chest tubes and that the doctors are really happy about his progress.
Thank the Lord that Yazan is doing so well and recovering so quickly.
Recovering Excellently
Two days ago, Yazan had his PA surgery at Sheba Hospital, and he’s been recovering amazingly! He’s already been extubated and he’s been responding great to everything.
When I came to his room I found him awake and looking around, as aware as a child his tiny age can be, full of beauty. His mother smiled and was grateful, thanking the doctors and Shevet over and over again, and she even thanked me for my prayers.
Thank you Father for your healing work in his life! Keep it going, we ask! Restore him to fullness and health!
First Surgery

Preparing for surgery

Intubated
Yazan had to be intubated at Sheba Hospital this morning because his oxygen saturation was dropping rapidly and at some moments was just about 40%.
Although he was supposed to be discharged last week, he deteriorated more and more and now had to be moved back to the Primary Pediatric ICU for closer surveillance. The doctors don’t know yet where the rapid decrease came from but they’re testing Yazan and hoping he will stabilise so he can have his surgery soon.
Please pray for him in this critical time.
Back on Oxygen Support

Yazan’s mother is very sweet and a good support to the other mothers in the hospital, so we are thankful to have her here. Please pray for wisdom for Yazan’s doctors!
Growing Stronger
Diagnosis
Yazan, just arrived two days ago, has a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot which is a combination of several heart defects. He is also diagnosed with pulmonary atresia which means that the blood doesn’t flow properly from his heart to the lungs as the pulmonary valve didn’t form properly. Since his heart condition is a little complicated, he had a CT today at Sheba Hospital to check how his heart looks exactly.
Shortly before we visited Yazan, he had just pulled out the intubation tubes himself. As he was doing quite well, doctors wanted to leave him extubated. He needs oxygen support, but otherwise he is quite stable. Next week he will probably have his surgery to correct his heart. Please pray for him as an unknown and hard journey begins for him as well as his mother and family.
Welcome Yazan
Our new emergency baby Yazan from the West Bank arrived today together with his loving mother at Sheba Medical Center. Since doctors in the ICU were pretty busy, Yazan didn’t have an echo yet, so there’s no clarity as to what problem his heart has exactly. For the next days, Yazan will first have a few tests to examine his heart properly and start the right treatment. For now he is stable and on the ventilator.
I had a lovely time with Yazan’s mother, meeting her for the first time and getting to know her. She told me about her family and her other four children. I’m sure we as volunteers will get to know her even better in the next weeks.
Hopefully doctors will get a better picture of what his heart exactly looks like and begin his treatment soon. Please pray for Yazan and his family, as a hard journey begins for them.
