While we were delivered the news last night that he might get discharged, it was not meant to be for Salama. Last night his oxygen-saturation fluctuated and dropped to a level that caused the doctors to hold off on releasing him. They will instead wait to see how his oxygen-saturation improves.
Doctors are hopeful that he will be discharged sometime in the next week, and they have reason to believe that. He is very strong and hungry, downing a bottle of milk I gave him in the blink of an eye, so he really is working hard to gain wait and get discharged, and then eventually have his big surgery. So we are praying for all of this, that God will smash any roadblocks and continue to give him strength.
Today I talked to the doctor at Sheba Hospital about Salama and got good news! He may be getting discharged tomorrow. Now we are just waiting for the go from the doctors. His aunt smiled at me with relief.
Salama also smiled as if he knew he can go home soon.
Today coworker Lene and I visited Salama and his grandmother at Sheba Hospital. She was really happy to see us and this made me very happy too.
The doctors said that Salama still needs to gain weight. They are searching for the reason why Salama has not gained weight. In the coming days, the cardiologist will discuss about Salama’s treatment plan. We pray that the doctors find out why he hasn’t gained weight and that they will find a solution.
Yesterday baby Salama arrived at Sheba Hospital via ambulance from Gaza.
Today he underwent an ultrasound as preparation for surgery. Right now he is undergoing an EEG, because the doctors in Gaza said he had seizures and this needed to be investigated.
Updates to follow. Thank you for your prayers for this little one.
