The Lord is constantly orchestrating beautiful stories as he cares for all of His children. One such example of this occurred today when we had the unexpected delight of meeting a family from Hebron. They had come to Sheba Medical Center desperately trying to get care for their seven year old daughter named Watar. Through a number of events at the hospital, the Lord was able to direct them to Shevet Achim. It was by His grace alone that we were joyfully able to help!
This sweet young lady, Watar, has been diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot and is in dire need of surgery to correct some issues. Regardless of this, she is vibrant and happy as can be. Upon meeting her, she instantly warmed up to coworker Hannah and I as she grinned from ear to ear. About thirty seconds after meeting her, she was already popping bubbles and goofing off.
She also handled her appointment like a pro. Watar received a lengthy echo but maintained a smile through the whole thing. After her echo, a doctor came in to look at the results and speak with the family. At that point he asked me to take Watar outside so as not to scare her with the information about the care she needs to receive in the coming days. While the doctor explained everything to her parents in a room, she continued to happily run around outside blowing yet more bubbles.When the doctor and parents finally emerged from the room, the doctor quickly shared with me that he is going to discuss with a board of his coworkers the correct form of treatment. But it seems he is almost positive they will agree she needs surgery in the coming weeks. Watar’s parents, though a little bit shaken at the prospect, couldn’t stop expressing their gratitude towards the hospital, Shevet Achim, and most of all to God. We praise Him for providing care for this family who so dearly loves their precious daughter!
Before they left, we had the opportunity to get to know the story about their family a little bit more. In doing so it was discovered that Watar’s father is an Oud player at weddings and other events. It just so happened that he brought his Oud with him to the hospital, and as an act of gratitude he delighted our ears with his music. As we listened to the Middle Eastern treat, it was sweet to see how Watar glowed at her father as he played and sang.
The interactions with this precious family were truly wonderful. The love they pour out to each other is beautiful, but also conveys the desperation they feel for Watar. May the Lord richly bless their family and provide for all their needs. Please join us in praying for Watar to be healed in the name of our Lord.
