Today our beautiful Mina had her last echo at Sheba hospital! Very early in the morning we went to the hospital with Mina and her mother for her echo. In the beginning she cried a lot but then she enjoyed her time eating cookies and milk. Her mother seemed a little anxious and worried about the results of Mina’s echo.
Finally after a long wait the doctor came and told us that Mina doesn’t have fluid around her heart, and her surgery was successful. She can go home! Her mother couldn’t believe the news that they will be home this week! We celebrated with joy and gave thanks to God that she is good now, even though she arrived as an emergency, and that she can now go home with a new heart! She will need follow-up with her cardiologist in Kurdistan.
Please pray for a safe journey back home.
Today, Sophie and I went with Mina and her mother to an echo appointment. The echo was good! Because of this, the medications can be slowly reduced. That’s good news and Mina’s mother is also very happy. She has another appointment next week. Mina is a lovely, brave girl, and we hope that she can go home in the next weeks! Please continue to pray for Mina’s recovery.
Today Mina is having her 2nd echo after the operation. Her mother was a little worried. We have been praying for a reduction of water in her heart. The doctor said that the result of the operation was very good and it was a good echo except for a little water remains.
God willing, she is going to have her 3rd and last echo next Sunday, then maybe they can go back to Kurdistan. Please be praying!
Our beautiful Mina had her first echo after surgery today. Her mom was very anxious about her results and Mina was crying a lot during the Echo, Oxygen test and ECG. Even though we tried to do many things to calm her down Mom was the best; while waiting for the result Mina smiled and tried to talk to us, that made our waiting time shorter.
Finally the doctor called us and told us that her heart looks good but she has from small to moderate liquid around her heart. The doctor decided to add one more medicine and she will have her next follow up in three days. We trust in the healing power of our God! Please pray for complete healing in Mina’s life and for peace inside her beautiful mother.
Beautiful Mina was discharged from the hospital today. Her mum was packed and ready. The hospital staff had helpfully prepared some medicines, and were so friendly in giving us the information regarding her discharge.
Mina looked so cute in her pink snow suit with a hat on as well! She sat happily in her car seat and watched the lights of the cars during her drive home. It is the first time that she has been to Shevet, as she came via ambulance in such a hurry. Its hard to imagine her as described by Nate, who escorted her on the plane, with her oxygen dropping below 20%, only a week or so ago! Mina was full of life today, and we are joining with the joy of her mum, as God has worked a miracle in her little life.
She needs to return to the hospital for an echo next week, so please ask God to continue his healing work in her life.
Resting in His Perfect Will
5:00am, I lay awake in a small room 9 floors above the bustling city of Erbil. In silent prayer going over every possible scenario in my head for what this next long day of travel will bring. Will the families be on time? Did I remember all the travel documents? All the medical equipment? My task for the day seemed overwhelming, so this was my prayer: God, I don’t know how to get these sick children to Israel, I am not qualified, or experienced enough so I pray that you would make it clear today who really rescues these children, please show you mighty hand.
My inadequacy became obvious as soon as we arrived at the airport. Mina was an hour late and the other child was even later. There was no way that both families would make the plane on time. Mina was the first to arrive, so I began to go through security with her and her bags, when I noticed she DID NOT HAVE HER PASSPORT! Inexplicably, we had gotten through security without her passport. This immediately got the attention of the head of immigration and passport control in the airport, so she quickly ordered the plane to wait an entire hour for us to sort the passport problem and for her to find out how we had gotten through. Mina’s mother got her passport, the delay allowed the other family time to arrive, and everyone made it on the plane with time to spare.
And this was only the first hour of the trip! Now that Mina is safely in the hands of the world class doctors a Sheba hospital, please pray with us that her healing would be complete.
