Today was a happy day for little Ayda and her mother. Ayda was discharged to go home. She is doing very well post-surgery.
We picked Ayda and her mother up from Sheba hospital and brought them to Erez border crossing into Gaza. Thank God that Ayda and her mother are back with their family and that surgical intervention here in Israel brought her a brighter future.
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
It is a day after the surgery of Ayda. Today, co-worker Georgia and I had a little chat with Ayda’s mother in the waiting room at Sheba hospital. During the surgery yesterday, she was worried about her daughter, but today she was happy and relieved that the surgery went well. The conversation we had with her was nice and you could see that she was comfortable in the situation.
She invited us to come look at her daughter in the ICU. Ayda is a tiny baby, but she is strong. The doctor said that her condition is stable right now. Of course, we’re still waiting to see how Ayda’s body will react to the surgery, but her doctor was optimistic about the situation.
Praise God that for now, the situation is stable and positive. Please pray that Ayda will remain stable and that she will recover eventually.
This morning, Ayda went into her surgery at Sheba hospital. After around four hours one of the friendly doctors came out and told us that the surgery is over and was successful. Ayda’s mother was extremely happy and thankful when she heard this. It took them maybe another hour until they brought her out of the surgery room.
I spent the waiting time together with her mother, to get to know her more. She is a really nice lady and was doing very well during the whole time but she also shared that she is worried for her beloved daughter and the surgery. She is genuinely a very happy woman. We were also joined by some other mothers from Gaza and by co-workers Amar and Margarita.
It was a nice time that we spent together. Ayda’s mother was happy to finally see her lovely daughter and invited me to eat something with her, sharing that she couldn’t eat something during the surgery time because she was thinking so much about Ayda. So we ate something together and it was nice to see how she changed in her attitude afterwards.
Thank God that the surgery was successful. Please pray for a good recovery now for our little baby girl Ayda.
Baby Ayda is only a few days old. She came to Sheba hospital urgently yesterday from Gaza and is currently with mechanical ventilation in the ICU until her surgery to place a BT shunt to connect two of her arteries.
Her mother has four other children at home, four boys actually, and Ayda is the first girl for her parents. Please be praying for Ayda and her mother as she undergoes her operation this coming Sunday.
