Almost to Surgery

Aresh enjoys the outdoors, a little snack, and time to play in the dirt with his friend as a healthy little boy unaware that in one short hour he will be on his way to the hospital for tomorrow's surgery. If only his young mother could enjoy that much freedom from worry and fear. As much as it has been a delightful day for Aresh, it has been a stressful day of anticipation and worry for his mother Dalya.

As the Sabbath is ending it is time to set out from the Shevet center in Jerusalem, and Aresh says his goodbye to Ilham who has recently come back from her own heart surgery.

As we approach the hospital, hugs, many prayers and few words of encouragement and reassurance were offered. Please join us in the prayers. We ask for joy for Aresh's mother, to give her strength in the coming days to lift the depression and overcome the fear with peace. We ask for the Lord to guide the doctors and to restore health and life to this little one. And we ask for the Lord to make His presence known and felt to all involved. Thank you for your prayers.

Late breaking news after admission and examination by medical staff is that the surgery must be postponed due to some inflammation in Aresh's glands. He will be returning to the Shevet house Monday and we will have a while longer to lift this child and mother up in prayer.

Aresh Admitted to Hospital

Aresh had his admission bloodwork, echo, and EKG today. He has a confirmed diagnosis of Tetralogy of Fallot (a combination of four heart defects; a hole between the ventricles, overriding aorta, pulmonary stenosis, and right ventricular hypertrophy). All the diagnostic tests went well. However, Aresh has had diarrhea the past four days, and this has caused some concern among the hospital staff. Therefore, he and his mother will be spending the night at the hospital so Aresh can get replacement fluids, and be monitored regarding his diarrhea.

Please pray for Aresh, that the cause of the diarrhea would be identified and treated. Also please pray for his mother, who was in tears today; she has a nine-month-old and a husband at home, and misses both of them.

She only speaks Kurdish, and is isolated from the hospital staff and other mothers. All of these combined stressors made her depressed at the idea of spending the night at the hospital. Please pray for her peace and comfort tonight as she spends a hard evening alone.

Aresh Reaches Israel on His Birthday

Aresh and his 21-year-old mother arrived in Israel this afternoon (on his second birthday!), rather weary from the journey and quite fearful to be in such a new place....also no doubt fearful of what lies ahead. Aresh is small and sometimes timid, but when he smiles his eyes simply shine with delight! His mother seems anxious, not just for Aresh but also for the little one-year-old baby she's left at home. I pray God will make this a time of peace and newfound strength for this young mother, and a time of miraculous healing and joy for her little boy Aresh. Please pray with us as we welcome this new family into our home, that the love of Jesus would shine forth in all that we do, and that they would know it's all from Him.
