Fanya and Arazoo were admitted to Wolfson today for heart catheterization on Wednesday. This will help the doctors better understand the anatomy of their hearts before surgery. The procedure was uneventful as the girls were registered, assigned rooms and got settled in. After the initial hospital jitters wore off, the girls struck out to explore the hospital and grounds.

Please continue to pray for them as they progress toward having heart surgery.

Cheerful Again After Blood Drawn

We were off early this morning to Wolfson for pre-admission testing and a final echocardiogram for four of the new arrivals. The hospital staff was ready and waiting when we arrived and got down to business immediately.

Fanya was all smiles until her turn came to give blood for testing. Despite their best efforts, the nurse had a difficult time locating a vein. After several attempts from the staff to draw blood, Fanya's brave face disappeared and tears and sobs erupted from her. Even though it was very difficult for us to watch and listen, we kept encouraging her with praise. To our delight, her cheerful disposition returned as soon as the testing was complete.

Her echocardiogram confirmed multiple heart defects which are all treatable. The team of doctors and surgeons will assess her case and make a decision later concerning her operation.

Fanya and her mother were welcomed today into Israel and have settled for the night in our center in Jerusalem. She is a tired looking eight-year-old who is expecting to have her first echocardiogram assessment tomorrow at Wolfson Medical Center. We rejoice that she has come this far and we ask you for prayer that she will soon go forward for surgery.
