Returned to Gaza!

Today little Mohammed got discharged from hospital and driven home to Gaza. It took a while to get his medication and paperwork sorted, but by the end of today, he will be back in his house again. He will have to have a follow-up appointment with a local doctor in a week, but otherwise, he is now healthy!

We had the opportunity to visit little Mohammed (from Gaza) today. He was still in the ICU but is now extubated and very active. It was nice to see how his eyes followed our movements and his arms struggle even if he had many IV‘s and other lines around him. We couldn’t do much for him, so we just prayed for him and talked shortly with his grandma.

Mohammed Arrives by Ambulance

Mohammed came by a special ambulance last night from Gaza to the Sheba Medical Center. He is a newborn from the 23rd of last month and the apple of his mother's eyes.
He has TGA, transposition of the great arteries, as well as large VSD, holes between the chambers of his heart; both are life-threatening conditions that usually end a child's time before their teenage years. With the excellent care at this Israeli hospital, he should be able to receive life-saving heart surgery and a have a good chance at a full life.
Right now he is receiving blue light treatment in the secondary ICU for microbe control. His guardian is a bit nervous but trusting the doctors and glad for the professional attention. Early detection and proceeding to surgery increases the smooth success operations so we are glad to welcome and admit this baby so quickly. Marhaba Mohammed! Welcome!
