Just a reminder that this bright-eyed little boy is going for surgery tomorrow morning. Please pray for him and support his mother as she is anxious for her son. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of these children from Gaza. We thank Him for the opportunity to offer them through the Save A Child's Heart program an opportunity for a healthy new life.

Playing With Neighbour, Awaiting Surgery

While Mohammed and his mother wait for his surgery, scheduled for Monday or Tuesday next week, he and his neighbour Havan enjoy a tug of war and play together. Please pray for this boy who goes forward for heart surgery. His mother is very concerned and needs the love of the Father to give her peace in these days.

Following Through With Mohammed

Mohammed has been re-admitted to the Wolfson Medical Center in Tel Aviv after a check-up on his pacemaker revealed that he had developed an infection in the opening in his skin which provides access to the pacemaker. Mohammed is currently being treated for the infection and the doctors are considering what step to take next. It remains unclear whether he will need an operation to remove the pacemaker or if there is another solution. Mohammed did not seem to be in any pain, and was in good spirits surroundedby a drove of other encouraging Palestinian mothers and children.

Moved To ICU With Respiratory Virus

Posted on Sat, 01/10/2009 - 00:00 by Donna_Petrel

It has been a difficult week for little Mohammed as he has struggled with a respiratory virus which today sent him to the ICU. He has been on oxygen under the dome continuously along with breathing treatments to assist him in recovering, but so far has not improved.

So today he was moved into the ICU for better monitoring of his condition. His mother is very tired and worried, but actually seemed encouraged that he was moved. Besides more attention by the medical staff, being in the ICU will also put her nearer several other Palestinian mothers who have all become good friends through this grueling surgery process. It is beautiful to see how they come alongside one another day to day, whether it is by sharing food, watching each other's children so another can leave the room, or giving solace and encouragement when things are extra-difficult. Let us pray for little Mohammed's lungs to be healed so that he can have the surgery he needs as soon as possible. Pray for his mother to have rest and peace as she waits for the healing of his lungs so that his heart can be repaired. We know God is listening.

Mohammed Safely Home

Mohammed is back safe at home in Gaza after recovering from surgery for his pace maker and being cleared of Swine Flu. The doctors concluded that after a few days of confirming he had the virus, Mohammed was no longer infectious, and it was safe to return him home. While we taking him home, Mohammed showed no symptoms of being sick whatsoever and was laughing and playing as we were waiting for the paperwork at the border to finish.

Mohammed Returns Home To Gaza

Mohammed was cleared to return to Gaza today from Wolfson Medical Center in Tel Aviv. After a busy day in the hospital saying goodbyes, Mohammed, his mother, and I got into the van, along with all the goods they have accumulated on their stay in Israel, into a taxi bound for home.

Mohammed Now Battling Swine Flu

Today we went to the hospital to visit our patients and came across little Mohammed from Gaza still trying to recover from the infection where his pacemaker is located, and several of our other children were in the same room waiting to be released today to the Shevet House in Jerusalem. Most of the children in the hospital are being tested for swine flu, and all of our children have tested negative except for Mohammed. We just found out about his positive test after we had visited them this morning. I went back to see if I could see his mom and the nurses had already quarantined the room off and were scrubbing it with cleaning solutions, so I was not able to see Mohammed or his mom. Please pray for Mohammed, as he struggles with a new illness just trying to get better, and please also pray for healing and peace for his mother and also protection from the swine flu for the Shevet staff, as we all have been visiting Mohammed for the last several weeks.

Mohammed Safely Out Of Gaza

We arrived at the Gaza border this afternoon to pick up Mohammed for his surgery next week. Apart from a minor snag getting through the border, we were able to get Mohammed and mother across without issue. With Mohammed and two other Gaza children in tow, we left for Wolfson Medical Center near Tel Aviv just as the sun was setting. We arrived safely at the hospital, got everyone checked in, and left Mohammed in the care of the medical staff anticipating our arrival.
