Shadyan's Heart Surgery

On the Way

Shadyan is six-month-old little girl from Kurdistan in northern Iraq. She was born with a heart defect known as Atrioventricular Septal Defect (or AV Canal Defect). This means that her heart failed to develop certain cardiac structures while she was in her mother's womb that would separate her heart into four separate chambers. Without these chambers in her heart, there is a lot of mixing of oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood, meaning that her body receives less oxygen than it should from her blood. Her case is quite urgent, so we hope to have her and her mother join us in Jerusalem as soon as possible.
