Sousan Back Home in Gaza

Posted on Tue, 08/25/2009 - 01:00 by Maddison_Verdecia

After a long hospital day with some confusion and complications, Justin and I dropped Sousan and her brother at the Gaza border today! After staying just a few more days in order for the doctors to monitor her, she recovered extremely well. When we got to the hospital she was already completely dressed and looked very excited to be finally going home. The car ride and the border crossing went smoothly, praise God!

A Special Bond

Today I went into Wolfson and was expecting to see dear Sousan going back home to Gaza, but found out that she has been struggling with her breathing. This picture above looks like she is a healthy young woman, but her left lung is still weak and from speaking to her today, the doctors want her to stay in the hospital for another two weeks. I really believe this will be a special time with her, to love her and encourage her and continue to pray for her. I believe the Lord is doing something really special in her as he has allowed me to have a special bond with her. Please continue to pray for her healing.

Sousan On the Road to Recovery

Looks like Sousan is doing well in the children's ward now. I was able to peek in on her while she was sleeping, and also I asked her brother how she was doing, and it looks like she is fully recovering. Sousan's doctors have said they will keep her for observation for a while since her surgery was unconventional. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness with this beautiful young lady from Gaza. Thank you all for your continued prayers for her.

Sousan Leaves the ICU

I was able to visit Sousan today and it was surprising to find her in the intermediate care ward resting nicely. She is doing much better, breathing well, and her left lung is healing. Hopefully in a couple of days they will release her to the children's ward. It was a nice time today, I was able to sit with her and hold her hand again and ask her about her mom. She gets to call her mom daily, and her brother is always by her side. Sousan allowed me to pray for her today. Please keep her in your prayers as she needs healing of both body and soul.

Sousan Still in ICU

Sousan is slowly recovering in ICU. The surgeon, Dr. Sasson, told us that her left lung is weak and she is having difficulty breathing. They want to keep her in ICU for a couple of more days to make sure she stabilizes. We appreciate your prayers for this beautiful young lady. I got to hold her hand today and she did not want to let go. I am sure it's so difficult to be in this situation and not have your mom by your side. Please keep her in your prayers.

Sousan Recovering Nicely

Today I was able to sit by Sousans side in the ICU. They were able to extubate her today and take out her breathing tubes, but the doctors were having a little difficulty stabilizing her blood pressure. Please pray for this young lady as she is only with her brother right now. She needs all of our prayer support. Im sure this is difficult not having her mom with her.

Sousan Comes Through Surgery, Without Parents

Posted on Wed, 08/05/2009 - 01:00 by Robin_Miller

Miss Sousan went through her surgery with flying colors today, as far as the doctors were concerned. She is pictured here recovering and on mechanical ventilation in the ICU.

There was a slight hold up on performing the surgery due to some confusion as to who gave permission for the surgery. Apparently it is her brother accompanying her from Gaza and not her father! Her mother lives in Canada and has not seen Sousan in three years, while her father is in a wheelchair in Gaza and unable to communicate to anyone. We are not certain of all of the facts, but because her mom or dad was not physically with her, the hospital literally held her up in the OR room while she was on the table. But by the grace of the Lord, they went through with her life-saving surgery and the doctors say that she is doing well. Please pray for Sousan and her brother as they do not have much family support, and I know she misses her mom.

Sousan and Father Reach Israel

Posted on Thu, 07/30/2009 - 01:00 by Robin_Miller

Today I was blessed to meet a beautiful 15-year-old young lady Sousan and her father from Gaza. She is one of the next patients to have heart surgery. She seems very peaceful and maybe a little shy and her father was very nice, offering us drinks or food as soon as we got to the hospital. The children's ward was not ready to receive her yet, so I took them on a tour of the hospital grounds including the Qanyon, which is the local shopping mall with a food court, hoping to keep Sousan's mind a little preoccupied before thinking about surgery. We got food and then the call that the nursing station was ready for her, so we walked back to the children's ward where the nurses and one doctor were very sweet with their responses toward her. You can truly see the Lord's touch in not only the children's lives but also the nurses and doctors who give their all to these kids. Sousan got all checked out and they took some blood, and then had a chest x-ray and set her up in her own bed. We should hear early tomorrow how soon Sousan will be scheduled for her heart surgery. We appreciate your prayers for her and her father during this time.
